Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains the type, scope and purpose of the processing of personal data when you visit this website (wernecke.it) and when you use our contact form. The legal framework is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted on servers located in Germany. When the site is accessed, the web server automatically stores data sent by your browser in so-called server log files:

  • IP address (truncated or kept only for the connection)
  • date and time of the request
  • requested URL and HTTP status code
  • amount of data transferred
  • browser and operating system used
  • referrer URL (previously visited page)

These data are processed to ensure operation, mitigate attacks and analyse errors. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Log files are deleted or anonymised no later than 14 days.

3. Contact form and email contact

If you send us a message via the contact form or by email, your details (name, email address, optional phone number, topic, message body) are processed to handle your request and any follow-up. Transmission to our mailbox is encrypted (TLS) via our own SMTP server.

Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in handling your enquiry).

We retain your enquiry and the related correspondence for as long as needed to handle the request and any follow-up questions. Where statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. commercial or tax law), we delete after they expire.

4. Web analytics with Matomo

Once enabled, we use the open-source software Matomo for pseudonymous analysis of visitor behaviour. Matomo runs on our own infrastructure in Germany; no data are transferred to third parties or third countries.

IP addresses are truncated before storage. Cookies are — where possible — not set; otherwise they are only used after your consent. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in improving our offering) or Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent), where such consent is required.

5. External content

On individual pages we embed maps from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, UK) via iframe. When the map loads, your IP address is transmitted to the provider. Privacy notice: osmfoundation.org/Privacy_Policy.

Embedded fonts (Google Fonts, Inter and Space Grotesk) are loaded via fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. When loaded, your IP address is transmitted to Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We continuously review self-hosting the fonts.

6. Cookies

This website currently uses only technically necessary storage (e.g. localStorage for the light/dark colour scheme). No marketing or tracking cookies are set.

7. SSL/TLS encryption

For security and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the address bar of your browser (https://).

8. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding personal data concerning you:

  • right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

9. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority about our processing of your personal data. The competent authority is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.

This privacy policy is current. As the website evolves or as legal or regulatory requirements change, it may need to be updated. The current version is always available on this page.
